Vier Fragen an Mr. BIG

Where would be your favourite place to live?
Bjarke Ingels
A hybrid city that combines the density and diversity of NYC, with the landscape and weather of Barcelona, and the casual convenience of Copenhagen (3 cities I have all lived in and all enjoyed!)

What is the hippest bar you love to get drunk?
B.I.
Fiskebaren in Kødbyen (The Meatcity District) in CPH tends to be where I like to hang out - the food is excellent and the wine is great and plenty - run by Anders Selmer - the sommelier who started NOMA (currently ranked the best restaurant in the world) it even has its own winery of whitewines from the southern islands of Denmark!

What was your most akward situation with a client?
B.I.
When we had won the competition for the Danish Maritime Museum in an old decommissioned dry dock - proposing to build the museum around the old dock instead of inside it as the brief demanded. Our client then got sued by the Danish Architects Association - my union! - for having chosen a proposal that broke one of the main conditions of the brief. This was insanely awkward as our client was looking to us asking why our union was giving them trouble! Happily the clients had become so commited to the idea - that they decided to give in to the accusations - cancel the competition - and hire us as their architects!

What do you think, from which country are the most beautiful women?
B.I.
Pangea
